Terms and Conditions


Bookings will only be confirmed after full payment has been received by Paddle Lochaber.

Payment can be made via Bank Transfer, we will supply the required details when you make a booking.


If you decide to cancel your booking with more than one months notice we will give you a full refund, less a 20% administration charge. If you cancel with less than two weeks notice we will offer you a 50% refund. If you cancel within 48 hours of your booking we unfortunately can not offer any refund. We recommend taking out cancellation and curtailment cover.

In the unlikely event that Paddle Lochaber cancels your activity we will try to either arrange an alternative date or activity. If this is not possible we will offer you a full refund.


Mark McKerral t/a Paddle Lochaber holds public liability insurance via the Scottish Canoe Association, however all participants are recomend to take out personal insurance to cover personal accident, loss of belongings or money and personal liability. If you wish to take out personal accident cover, please contact an insurance broker.

Children and Young Adults (Participants under 18 years old)

Unfortunately, due to legal requirements, Paddle Lochaber cannot accept any participant under the age of 18 unless they are accompanied by their Legal Guardian. This is someone who has full legal responsibility for the young person, normally their mother/father or person(s) appointed by a court.

If you would like to take a young person kayaking who you do not have legal responsibility for, such as a younger sibling, grand child or niece/ nephew we can recommend other providers.

We do not normally accept under 18s on any BC course.


Paddle Lochaber reserves the right to remove any participant from any course on failure to comply with reasonable regulations or instructions from members of their staff. If this happens, there will be no refund of course fees.

Personal Belongings

Paddle Lochaber cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property unless due to negligence on the part of their staff. We recommend you bring suitable dry bags or boxes for any valuables (especially cameras) you intend to take on the water.

Health and Fitness

Courses or trips undertaken at Paddle Lochaber may involve strenuous physical exercise. You may be exposed to cold and wet conditions and circumstances where the carrying of heavy loads is required. You should consider your personal health and fitness before attending any course or trip. Anyone suffering from, or ever having suffered from, any medical condition, illness or injury or who is pregnant should consult their doctor regarding the suitability of their participation. Participants with concerns should only attend following advice from their doctor and should make their condition known to Paddle Lochaber.


You are expected to supply your own boat and paddling equipment for all courses (except possibly FSRT but we will confirm this with you). It is your responsibility to make sure your equipment is safe and servicable before the course, if any item is found to be defective you may not be able to contiune with course.

Location and Timings

Meeting points and timings will be communicated to you via email in advance of your course. If you have not recieved these details 48hrs before you course please get in touch.
